From Prohibition to Regulated Industry

Greetings, my name is David Jones and I live in the beautiful state of Florida. Having spent much of my career as the communications director with a statewide nonprofit advocating for cannabis laws and other drug reform policies in our state, I have witnessed an evolution in this movement. There are over 21 states with cannabis-friendly policies in statute, but yet there is still a disconnect between the public perception of the cannabis plant and what the medical research community is suggesting. Countless studies have been done and countless more are needed before my advocacy career is done. There are two worlds colliding; the world of activists and the world of commerce. This is my way of bridging the two by using the beautiful Kannaway branding to engage consumers about the value of the cannabis plant.
While working at the Florida capitol, I heard a lot of buzz around an anti-e-cigarette bill that passed the House of Represenatives and Senate - UNANIMOUSLY - and is waiting for Governor Scott's signature. The proposed anti-e-cigarette law of 2014 (SB 224) would make the sale of "nicotine dispensing devices," including e-cigs and their cartridges, without a tobacco permit for each location, and to minors, illegal. However, the sale of Kannaway’s HempVap hemp vaporizer pens can be sold without a tobacco permit because HempVap DOES NOT contain tobacco or nicotine, nor does the packaging say it's "For tobacco use" because it's not - it is for legal hemp oil.
